I got you Gurl is part of a new series titled ‘Waiting’ which explores the interval space I often find myself in. This portrait is of my friends Abbey and Nicole in this interval space. The figures are huddled together waiting, passive expressions dawn their faces and knitted jumpers keep them warm. This painting seeks to spark questions like ‘what are these women waiting for?’ And ‘Has something happened?’ The questions are left unanswered; however, the painting prompts us to remember that waiting is part of life’s journey and that friends can often support us as we wait.
